How to Register

It's easy to register for an American Red Cross course.  You can register by mail, telephone, fax or in person at one of our offices.  If you need additional information, call our office nearest you.

Preparing for Class

Please verify the dates, days, location and times of your training.

Arrive for class on time.  Give yourself plenty of time to find the training location.  Students arriving after the start of the course will be turned away and will have to re-register (and re-pay) for their training.

Wear comfortable clothing for all CPR and first aid courses.

Bring a sack lunch or a snack for courses over three hours long.  Coffee and soft drinks are usually available from vending machines (bring change).  All of our course locations are wheelchair accessible.

If you have other special needs (i.e., closed-captioned video monitor), please call our office to make these arrangements ahead of time.  The American Red Cross is committed to insuring access to our training.

Anti-Discrimination Policy

No person will be excluded from services or courses because of race, ethnic origin, religion, handicap, sex or sexual orientation.

Health Precautions

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), there has never been a reported case of any infectious disease transmitted through the use of CPR manikins.

The Red Cross follows widely accepted guidelines for cleaning and decontamination of training manikins.  When basic personal hygiene (frequent handwashing) is also practiced, the risk of disease transmission during CPR training is extremely low.

To minimize the risk of disease transmission, you should follow some basic health precautions while participating in training.  You should take precautions if you have a condition that would increase your risk or other participant's risk of exposure to infections.

Request a separate manikin if you:

Have an acute condition, such as a cold or sore throat, or cuts or sores on your hands or around your mouth.
Have a chronic infection indicated by long-term positive blood tests for hepatitis B.
Have any other acute or chronic condition that could put you or others at risk for infection.

If you decide you should have your own manikin, call our office ahead of time.   You can also ask your instructor to provide one for you.  You will not be asked to explain the reason for your request.  Your manikin will not be used by anyone else until it has been cleaned and decontaminated according to recommended guidelines.

Training in first aid and CPR requires physical activity.  If you have a medical condition that prevents you from taking part in the practice sessions, please let your instructor know.

Pricing Information

The Red Cross provides state-of-the-art CPR and first aid training.  While many of our courses are taught by volunteers, significant expenses are involved in producing, purchasing and maintaining up-to-date curriculum, equipment, audio-visuals and books to ensure that you receive the best quality training available.  As a result, we have the following pricing system:

Course Fees

In order to continue our programs, we must recover as many of our program costs as possible.  The fees listed in this course catalog represents the actual cost of providing training to an individual.  Fees are not refundable unless course is cancelled.  In order to keep our administrative costs as low as possible, we are unable to refund course fees.  Occasionally, courses are cancelled due to low enrollment.  If a course is cancelled, we will notify you prior to the start of the course.  You will have the option to reschedule or receive a refund.   If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your fee to another course if you notify us at least 5 (five) working days before the first session of the course for which you are registered.  You may transfer to another course once only.  You may also have someone attend the course in your place, should you be unable to attend.

Scholarships

The Red Cross has a commitment to making sure all members of the community receive first aid and CPR training.  If you are unable to pay the full course fee, please contact the Health and Safety Services department at your local chapter.  Partial scholarships are available for those with a financial need.

Donation for Scholarships

IF you would like to support our scholarship fund, you can do so by making a tax deductible donation in addition to your course fee.
