Consultation Services

Reference staff is available for technical consultation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by telephone. A staff member is on duty or on-call at all times.

Staff is normally on site in Oakland and/or San Jose during the following:

Monday through Friday   8:00 A.M. – 10:30 P.M.
Saturday   9:00 A.M. – 5:30 P.M.

Outside working hours, the on-call staff may be reached by calling Hospital Services and asking to speak to a Reference Technologist. The on-call staff will be contacted and will return your call.

Our Reference Technologists work a regular 40-hour week in addition to their on-call duties. Thus, serologic investigations requiring the on-call Technologist to come into the Laboratory (outside working hours) should be reserved for emergency situations when a patient's life or health is threatened.
