Caiden James Kamau Hogg, due June 13, 2004 was born almost 10 weeks early on April 9th, weighing 3lbs 3oz. at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose.

During his almost 8 week stay in the Neonatal Intensive Car Unit he required blood transfusions twice, the second time being a double transfusion. These transfusions allowed his system to catch up with itself, significantly reducing his episodes of apnea (shallow or stopped breathing) and bradychardia (heart rate dip) and ultimately saving his life.
