Caring
for a parent, spouse or friend in a home setting -
ensuring a safe environment and providing even the most basic
care -
can be overwhelming. The American Red Cross Family Caregiving
Program offers nine modules that help participants provide
better care and gain an understanding of safety, nutrition,
general care, legal and financial issues. Since each session
is just one hour, attending presentations fits into even the
busiest schedules.
Our
modular program design lets participants choose any
presentation in any order, and pay a nominal fee for only
those they attend. No matter which presentations are selected,
participants enhance skills, reduce stress and build
confidence.
Who
is a Caregiver?
A
caregiver is anyone who gives assistance to a person, who is
to some degree ill or disabled and needs help. The majority of
family caregivers are unpaid individuals such as family
members, friends and neighbors who provide care such as a
daughter providing care for her mother who suffered a stroke,
a husband providing care for a wife with Alzheimer's, caring
for a child with a traumatic brain injury, or a friend with
AIDS.
