For more than 85 years, the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus has been a hero for thousands of people in our community, lending aid during times of disaster, seeing to the welfare of military families and providing citizens with lifesaving CPR and first aid skills. The Red Cross relies on generous donations of time and money to provide these vital services. Our community needs Heroes to ensure Red Cross programs and services are here to meet our needs today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

WHO IS A HERO?

An individual who makes a personal donation

An individual who encourages coworkers to donate money they would normally spend on lunch

A congregation that holds a bake sale at their place of worship and donates the proceeds

A school group or scout troop that runs a car wash

A family who organizes a garage sale

Children who donate their allowance and encourage their friends to do the same

A group of friends who walk for donations

WHY WE NEED HEROES!

Over 500 families receive assistance from the Red Cross each year after experiencing a disaster, mainly home fires. 

Each year, 50,000 lives could be saved if automated external defibrillators (AEDs) were readily available and people knew how to use them.

Nearly 2,000 local seniors and people with disabilities rely on Red Cross Community Transportation to get them to their medical appointments.

Over 21,000 people in central Ohio received training in the lifesaving skills of First Aid, CPR and AED last year, saving an untold amount of lives.

The Red Cross provided 52,613 individuals with Community Disaster Education through presentations and vital materials teaching disaster preparedness and prevention.
