Time Commitment
|
30
minutes for orientation (first time volunteers). One to
two hours per month (Saturdays) for dissemination of
fire safety information with preference is for six-month
appointment. |

Purpose
|
You
can help older adults and others in our community by driving
them to important medical and other appointments. Red Cross
provides insured, well-maintained, easy-to-drive vehicles.
Older adults and persons with disabilities are waiting for
your companionship and the ride that allows them to continue
to live independently in their homes.

Qualifications
|

Current
drivers license (no CDL-Commercial Drivers’ License
required)
-
Good
driving history (abstract required)

At
least two years driving experience

Because
we serve a vulnerable population, we conduct Criminal
Background Checks on drivers

Ability
to assist mobile person in and out of vehicle
-
Ability
to work with older adults and persons with disabilities
-
Minimum
age: 21

Orientation
to program and procedures provided prior to driving.
Defensive driving courses also available.
|
Time Commitment
|
Program
operates primarily Monday through Saturday.
Appointments scheduled on the hour and half hour from 5 AM
to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday; 6 AM – 4 PM, Saturday.
You choose the day and a morning or afternoon or evening shift –
preferably once a week.
