Survey Finds Concerns About Economy May Increase Incidence of Home Fires

The American Red Cross and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) released results of a survey showing the majority (79%) of Americans are concerned about the rising cost of heating their homes, and many will use an alternative heating source to reduce their bills this winter. The survey identified additional behaviors related to appliance maintenance and cooking that could also present home fire hazards this winter. Click here for more information.

More Than 2,000 Meals Served by Local Red Cross 

Red Cross volunteers served more than 2,000 meals to greater Columbus residents without power due to the storms. 

As families get back to the hustle and bustle of life, the Red Cross urges residents to take a moment to learn about the ways they can prepare their homes and families before another disaster, like the wind storm hits our area. Learn how to BE RED CROSS READY by clicking here. 


2008 Hurricane Season Wreaks Havoc

14 local volunteers,
have assisted the thousands of  Red Cross workers providing shelter, food and emotional support to tens of thousands of individuals impacted by recent hurricanes. As citizens return home, the Red Cross is providing meals, snacks, cleaning supplies, toiletries, mental health support and more. 

While news of these disasters is diminishing, the Red Cross remains in the areas devastated by these storms, helping families recover. Follow the links below to find out how you can help
