Disaster Services

  • Disaster Action Teams: Want to be on the front lines helping those affected by disasters? Prefer to work behind the scenes, ensuring that sufficient supplies and staff are available? Being a part of a Disaster Action Team may be for you. Encompassing everything from Family Service Caseworkers to Logistical Support to Disaster Fundraising, there's a job for everyone and for every skill and talent.  Please see our training schedule for upcoming classes.  The first course that you will need to take is called "Fulfilling our Mission."  You may sign up by calling 706-353-1645.  All disaster courses are free.

  • Planning and Preparedness: Prefer to work behind the scenes, helping to ensure that the organization and its volunteers are ready when the time comes? Have a skill for planning and organizing information? Consider volunteering to help with the many planning and preparedness activities that happen every day at the Chapter.
  • Disaster Education: Teach disaster preparedness courses and attend community fairs.

Health and Safety Services

  • Health and Safety Services Education: Teach First Aid, CPR, Whale Tales, or other programs to the schools and the community.
  • Health Promotion Interns and Practicums: Available each semester in the Health and Safety Services Department. For more information, contact Mandy Johnson at mjohnson@redcrosseastgeorgia.org.
  • First Aid Stations: Provide basic first response at first aid stations at events. CPR and First Aid Certification required.

Fundraising

  • Fundraising volunteers are needed to help with special events, contacting sponsors, thanking donors, and making phone calls. Fund Development keeps the chapter alive by bringing in the donations that make our services possible. If you have an interest or experience in public relations, customer service, or communications, please contact Jennifer Pennington at 706-363-1645 or jenniferpennington@redcrosseastgeorgia.org.

Internships

  • Community Relations Interns: Internships are open in the Community Relations office on a semester basis. Interns will experience all aspects of fundraising and public relations for a non-profit agency. More information can be found in the Placement Office of the UGA Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication.
  • Health Promotion Interns and Practicums: Available each semester in the Health and Safety Services Department. For more information, contact Mandy Johnson at mjohnson@redcrosseastgeorgia.org.

Office/Clerical

  • Volunteers assist in data entry, filing, collating mailings and telephone support. We ask you to commit four hours per week.
