The American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety education program is divided into three separate units: Adult CPR, Child and Infant CPR, and First Aid. Unit 1 serves as a prerequisite for Units 2&3. We encourage students to complete Units 2&3 as soon as possible following Unit 1. The three units are described below in greater detail.

Unit 1 Adult CPR Price $20.00 Hours 4 Students will learn how to react in an emergency situation by building an emergency action plan and learning how to use the Emergency Medical Services System. Students will also practice recognizing and caring for breathing emergencies, airway obstruction, cardiac emergencies, and how to prevent heart attacks. |

Unit 2 Infant and Child CPR Price $20.00 Hours 2.5
Students will learn to apply the principles of emergency obstruction
and cardiac emergencies from Unit 1 to children and infants. This
information is a must for parents and childcare providers with children
under age 9. |

Unit 3 First Aid Price $20.00 Hours 2.5 This course will teach participants to apply the basic emergency theories learned in Adult CPR to care for various life threatening and less serious emergencies. Bleeding, shock, broken bones, seizure, poisoning, and other emergency situations will be covered. Prerequisite: Adult CPR. |

Unit 4 Community CPR Review Price $20.00 Hours 4 This review course is for those persons currently certified in Community CPR who wish to recertify in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR. Participation in the review course must take place prior to the expiration of the certificate. Participants must bring a current Community CPR certificate to verify previous training. |

The Hawkeye Chapter offers full courses for participants who prefer to take multiple units in one day. You may become certified in Community First Aid and Safety ( Adult, Infant/Child CPR, and First Aid) or Community CPR (Adult, Infant/Child CPR) or Standard First Aid ( Adult CPR and First Aid).

The American Red Cross offers training for people who are interested in teaching CPR and First Aid. Basic level certification is strongly suggested. Courses are provided for people who are interested in teaching Hawkeye Chapter courses or at their places of work*(additional approval is necessary for workplace classes).

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Price (full) $40.00 (review) $20.00
This course is for people who are trained and expected to respond to an emergency as part of their job. This course will also meet entrance requirements for most nursing and EMT training. Students will learn principles of CPR for adults, children and infants, two person CPR, and ventilation with bag and mask. No previous CPR training is required for course participation.

CPR and First Aid Course Pricing
Each unit (Adult CPR, Child and Infant CPR, and First Aid) is offered individually at a cost of $20.00. To encourage you to enroll in all three units at the same time, the following fee payment scale applies when you are taking multiple units. CEU’s are available for RN’s and LPN’s for an additional $5.00 per course.
