HEAT ILLNESS
WATCH OUT FOR:

  • Muscle spasms in your legs and abdomen.

WHAT TO DO:

  • Rest in a cool, shady place.
  • Drink water, juices or a sports drink.

HEAT EXHAUSTION
WATCH OUT FOR:

  • Cool, moist, pale or flushed skin.
  • Headache Nausea and dizziness.
  • Weakness and exhaustion.

WHAT TO DO:

  • Get out of the heat.
  • Go to an air conditioned place.
  • Loosen tight clothes.
  • Apply cool, wet cloths to skin.
  • Remove perspiration-soaked clothes.
  • Drink cool water slowly.
  • Call for an ambulance if the person loses consciousness.

HEAT STROKE ……DANGER!!!!!!
WATCH OUT FOR:

  • Red, hot and dry skin.
  • Dizziness and fainting.
  • Rapid, shallow, breathing.
  • Rapid, weak pulse.

WHAT TO DO:

  • Follow heat exhaustion tips.
  • But do not give fluids if the person is unconscious.
  • Call an ambulance if the person refuses water, vomits, or goes unconscious.

REMEMBER!!!! Temperature plus humidity make a bad condition. An 85-degree day could feel like a 90-degree day if there’s 50 percent humidity. OR a 90-degree day could affect you like a 97-degree day with 50 percent humidity.
