American Red Cross offers courses that can help you learn the basic life saving skills to handle an emergency situation until professional rescuers arrive and take over. The Hawkeye Chapter provides community classes, workplace education, instructor certification, volunteer opportunities, and First Aid and CPR supplies. Registration Preregistration is required for ALL courses. Registration can be completed by mail or in person using the attached form and must be accompanied with the course fee. Phone and fax registration can be taken if paid for before the class. Office hours are 8:00 - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Course Fees The American Red Cross receives no funds from the government. We are a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of the American people to provide services throughout our communities. In order to continue quality programs, we must recover as many program costs as possible.
CEUs Continuing Education Units are available for the Iowa Board of Nursing. An additional fee of $5 per course is required to receive CEU credit. CEU Provider #54.
Class Size Minimum=6 Maximum=12 Enrollment in a course is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis for those whose payment has been received for the course. If minimum course enrollment is not achieved one day prior to the course date, we reserve the right to cancel a course. If you register for a course that has reached full enrollment, we will work with you to schedule you for an alternate date.
Cancellation If a course is cancelled, a daytime phone # is necessary as we make every effort to contact those preregistered. No refund for class fees will be given unless notification three days prior to class has been received. Processing fees for refunds $5.00 The American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety education program is divided into three separate units: Adult CPR, Child and Infant CPR, and First Aid. Unit 1 serves as a prerequisite for Units 2&3. We encourage students to complete Units 2&3 as soon as possible following Unit 1.
Babysitters Training Course Price $20.00 Hours 8 Prepares youth with the training every parent wants in a babysitter - including safety, basic childcare, safe play, first aid and critical emergency action skills. Includes Student Handbook. Will schedule as needed. Preventing Disease Transmission Price $5.00 Hours 1 Learn modes of transmission, exposure control plan, emergency action steps, and post evaluation and follow-up procedures of bloodborne pathogens. Meets OSHA standards for workplace requirements. Will schedule as needed.
