The first fund raising activity for YOUTHWAVE took place Saturday, July 22 from 10a.m. to 2p.m. at the Sonic on 21^st and Wanamaker. Sixteen YOUTHWAVE members scrubbed and hosed down many cars. All of those members helping were Tory Anderson, Trisha Anderson, Justin Vest, Kelly Welch, Cissy (TJ) Talbert, Andria Justus, Shane Ballard, Daniel Collins, Sarah Thomas, Aundrea King, Renee Ziegler, Cody Stewart, James Thomas, Kaitlin Symsek and Ian Nichols. Funds raised will be used to underwrite additional YOUTHWAVE activities and a portion will be used to purchase T-shirts for the youth involved. Additional activities scheduled for YOUTHWAVE includes their 2^nd Annual Lock-In at the Kansas Capital Area Chapter. The lock-in was held on August 18^th and 19^th . Instructors were brought in to teach participants CPR and self-defense techniques. They also helped the Respite department by doing some painting and yard work for several Respite families and they plan on participating in upcoming health and safety fairs.
