Life Saved at DENSO
At 5:20pm on Monday November 24, 2008, David Simon at DENSO Manufacturing went to the medical department complaining about being short of breath and not feeling well. At 5:30pm, he lost consciousness, lost his heartbeat, and went into cardiac arrest. He was literally dying. The staff responded immediately by calling security and 911.
It was a team effort. The AED machine was retrieved. Several helped to get David to the floor for CPR. The electrodes were hooked up and only one shock was delivered to David before his pulse resumed. Just 15 minutes after he was revived the ambulance arrived to take a man whose life was restored to the hospital.
Due to the quick response, training, and cooperation of DENSO's staff, David is alive today. DENSO has a full Emergency Response Team with 30 members who are fully trained to respond to this type of situation. Had DENSO not taken the initiative to be safe and have AED machines on site, he would have had a lesser chance of survival.
Statistics show that every minute that defibrillation is delayed the chance of survival decreases by 10%. After 10 minutes with no pulse or signs of circulation a person has a very minimal chance of survival.
Thank You DENSO Medical, Robin Brewer, and the entire Denso Emergency Response Team for a job well done and helping to save a life in our community.
