Be Prepared to Care for Your Four Legged Friends

American Red Cross introduces Dog First Aid and Cat First Aid pet guides

SOMERVILLE, NJ, October 17, 2008 – Dogs and cats are more than pets—they’re family. And just like any other member of the family, pets deserve to be cared for and protected. That’s why the American Red Cross has developed Dog First Aid and Cat First Aid, comprehensive guides that include everything owners need to know to keep their pets healthy and safe.

Pet ownership is currently at its highest level, with 63 percent of all U.S. households owning a pet,” said Amy Sutton, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Greater Somerset County Chapter. “That means pets are part of more than 69 million households. These pet care guides can give owners piece of mind when caring for their pets.”

From basic pet owner responsibilities, like spaying, neutering and administering medications to managing breathing or cardiac emergencies and preparing for disasters, these guides offer information and advice pet owners can trust.

Dog First Aid and Cat First Aid also feature an easy-to-use first aid reference guide that covers nearly 70 health topics. The accompanying DVD shows—step-by-step—how to manage a variety of urgent care situations, including car accidents; wounds; electrical shock; and eye, foot and ear injuries. For the health and safety of family pets—and peace of mind for the whole family—Dog First Aid and Cat First Aid will be the guides owners will turn to again and again.

Dog First Aid and Cat First Aid are available for purchase for just $16.95 each. For more information on purchasing one of these new pet guides, call Ken Salvatore at the Greater Somerset County Chapter in Somerville, NJ at (908) 725-2217 or visit http://american-redcross.org.
