First Aid, CPR, and AED Training

Today it's easier than ever to learn American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Our training methods and materials help people of all ages and abilities learn lifesaving techniques, and how to prevent common workplace accidents and injuries.

American Red Cross Courses

Standard First Aid

This 5 1/2 hour class gives individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Topics include:

  • Recognizing and handling emergency situations.
  • Using basic precautions to prevent disease transmission when providing care.
  • Breathing and cardiac care emergencies.
  • Caring for sudden illness.
  • Caring for wounds.
  • Controlling bleeding.
  • Immobilizing bone, muscle and joint injuries.

Successful participants will receive a certificate for Standard First Aid that is valid for 3 years, and Adult CPR, valid for 1 year.

Standard First Aid with AED

This 6 1/2 hour course is the same as above, but includes a component on using an automatic external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Standard First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years, Adult CPR/AED are valid for 1 year.

Adult CPR

This 3 1/2 hour course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Topics include:

Recognizing and handling emergency situations. Using basic precautions to prevent disease transmission when providing care. Breathing and cardiac care emergencies.

Successful participants will receive a certificate in Adult CPR that is valid for 1 year.

Adult CPR/AED

This 4 1/2 hour course gives individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for breathing emergencies, perform CPR, and use an AED for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Topics included are the same as above but also includes a component on using an AED for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

Successful participants will receive a certificate in Adult CPR/AED that is valid for 1 year.

First Aid

This is a 3 1/2 hour course that gives individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advance medical personnel arrive. Topics include instruction in:

  • Recognizing and handling emergency situations.
  • Using basic precautions to prevent disease transmission when providing care.
  • Caring for sudden illnesses and wounds.
  • Controlling bleeding.
  • Immobilizing muscle, bone, and joint injuries.

Certificates for First Aid are valid for 3 years.
