Every chapter can have a web page on line at little cost or even free, Yes Free . A WEB PAGE is a tool that allows you to have an Informational Office to be opened 24 / 7. It allows users to view your site on their own time, at their own pace, and gather what information they need or want. Some 48 Ohio Chapters and 3 Blood Regions have a web site. Chapters can use the web to promote local chapter training and events. A web site is a way to reach into a growing media. Sixty percent of the homes in Ohio have a computer, every school aged child has access to a computer in their school. The internet has changed how we obtain, how we share information, and how we use information in the Red Cross. In the future the internet will continue to change with on line learning - interactive training is in the future. If you have a site - Can it be found? Of the Ohio chapters, 48 have web sites on our directory page. Use the link agreement to get your site linked from the Public Web. Check here to see if your chapter is listed. If not please send the web address so it can be added to our list. How can your chapter can enter in to the world wide web - free or with little costs. National currently will allow chapters to post web sites on the public site, the www.redcross.org as a sub site. By hosting YOUR page with National you save hosting costs. Your web address (the URL's) that can be published on your local materials and in local news stories. It allows those address to be easy to remember. I have been working with computers for nearly 30 years and In the past 10 years I have developed several ARC web page - general websites. Contact me if you need help in getting a web page on line, that is hosted by National. Using the Web Page as a Marketing Tool: In mid 1996 as National moved to the web we started to look for a way to use the web to market our products our Health and Safety training. The cost to set up an on line service was to high for my chapter. So I started learning it has taken me two years, we have an affordable way to market our services.
