American Red Cross Assists Families,
Firefighters and Emergency Responders in Fires throughout the Metro Area
Oklahoma City – The American Red Cross of Central
Oklahoma has responded to more than 12 fires throughout Oklahoma and Lincoln counties in the past week.
Red Cross volunteers provided financial assistance to 46
individuals at house fires, grass fires and a 10-unit apartment complex. In the
past week alone, your Central Oklahoma chapter committed nearly $10,000 to help the
individuals purchase their immediate needs (clothes, food and shelter).
During the large grass fire that ripped through Oklahoma County on Nov. 23, volunteers provided
food and water to 50 firefighters and emergency responders. That same night,
Red Cross volunteers in Lincoln County provided assistance to firefighters
and emergency responders at multiple grass fires that burned hundreds of acres.
Since Nov. 1, Red Cross volunteers have responded to 33
fires in their five-county jurisdiction; Oklahoma, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Grady and
eastern Caddo counties, and have assisted more than 240 individuals.
The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma is a proud
partner agency of the United Way of Central Oklahoma.
