Classes for Companies or Groups
Course Descriptions
We offer the following CPR and First Aid Classes:Adult CPR: Teaches skills including:
how to check a victim, rescue
breathing, obstructed airway procedures,recognition of heart attack,
and CPR for adults.
Infant/Child CPR: Teaches skills including:how to check a victim,
breathing, obstructed airway procedures,and CPR for infants and children.
Basic First Aid: Teaches skills including:injury prevention, treatment
of shock/burns/bleeding emergencies,immobilization of skeletal/
musculature injuries, response to poisoning/beestings/seizures/diabetic emergencies/exposure
(heat and cold), and basic illness.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer: Teaches skills including:
how to check a victim, rescue breathing, obstructed airway
procedures, recognition of heart attack, CPR for adults, infants
and children, plus two-rescuer CPR, use of a personal protective
mask and bag-valve mask, and special resuscitation/CPR
situations.
Emergency Response (First Responder): Teaches skills including:
how to check a victim, rescue breathing, obstructed airway
procedures, recognition of heart attack, CPR for adults, infants
and children, plus two-rescuer CPR, use of a personal protective
mask and bag-valve mask, oxygen administration, and special
resuscitation/CPR situations, use of an automated external
defibrillator, injury prevention, treatment of shock/burns/bleeding
emergencies, immobilization of skeletal/musculature (especially
neck and back) injuries, response to poisoning/bee
stings/seizures/diabetic emergencies/exposure (heat and cold),
and basic illness, medical and behavioral emergencies, EMS
support and operations, preventing disease transmission, and
legal/ethical issues.PDT: Preventing Disease Transmission teaches you about exposure
to blood or other infectious materials; how they enter the body
and preventive measures you can take.
Pet First Aid: Teaches skills including: how to check your pet when
injured, rescue breathing, obstructed airway procedures, and
CPR for your pet. Also you will learn about treatment of injuries
such as musculature injuries, burns and bleeding.
Workplace CPR and First Aid Instructor: Provides instruction
and practice in teaching basic CPR and First Aid classes.

F.I.T. (must take when enrolling in the instructor class):
Fundamentals of Instructor Trainer provides instruction in RedCross principals and practices, and basic educational methods.
Must be taken before you can become an instructor.

While there's no minimum age for the CPR classes, we ask that everyone who enrolls be physically able to perform the skills in the class and pass the written test at the end of the course

How to EnrollTo enroll in one of our CPR and/or First Aid classes, we must have your name, phone number and payment before the date of the class you are going to attend. Checks should be payable to the Pee Dee Chapter of the American Red Cross. Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card payments may be made in person or over the telephone. All classes are non-refundable but you can reschedule one time.To enroll call the chapter at (843) 662-8121.

Course DescriptionsWe offer the following CPR and First Aid Classes:
Babysitting: Teaches skills to children ages 11-14 years old
including: how to make good, responsible
decisions while supervising children.
Keeping kids and yourself safe in the house
and outside. How to
choose safe and
age-appropriate toys and games.
How to handle an emergency or illness
and how to perform first aid, including
responding effectively to
life-threatening emergencies.
Perform basic care routines like diapering,
feeding and dressing infants and children
and how to handle bedtime issues effectively.
F.A.C.T.: This course was designed for children who are in kindergarten
through 3rd grade. Fact teaches children how to understand the
important role they play in managing their own health and safety,
as well as the health of the environment in which they live. The
purpose of this program is to teach children how to become aware
of behaviors that can lead to injuries or illnesses, teach them ways to
prevent injuries, and how to respond to injuries. This program also
encourages them to make choices that will positively influence their
health and that of the environment.
B.A.T.: This course was designed for children who are between the ages
of 8-10 years old. This course teaches basic skills and knowledge
necessary for children to identify and prevent potentially harmful
situations, to be able to treat common injuries and to respond in
emergency situations. The program emphasizes prevention to highlight
its importance in reducing injuries. This program has a student book that
has fact sheet and activity sheets for the students to do throughout the
lessons.

Classes for Companies or Groups
We offer the following CPR and First Aid Classes:
Workplace CPR & First Aid: Teaches skills including: how to
check a victim, rescue breathing,
obstructed airway procedures,
recognition of heart attack,
and CPR for adults, infants & children.
Also you will learn about injury prevention,
treatment of shock/burns/bleeding emergencies,
immobilization of skeletal/musculature injuries,
response to poisoning/beestings
/seizures/diabetic emergencies/exposure
(heat and cold), and basic illness.
AED: Teaches you the basics of automated external defibrillation, including
rationale for early defibrillation and the role of CPR in cardiac arrest
situations. What defibrillation is and how it works. General steps for
safety using and AED, precautions and what special situations that
can arise.
Slips, Trips & Falls: Teaches you how to understand safety awareness
that can help reduce your risk of slips, trips or falls. Identify, report,
and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. Learn tips for good
balance to help prevent slips, trips and falls. Also you will learn to
develop a prevention plan.
Workplace Violence Awareness: Learn how to recognize the
categories of workplace violence. Identify warning signals
of potential workplace violence, and this will reduce your risk
of becoming a victim of workplace violence.
Ergonomics: You will learn what ergonomics is. What musculoskeletal
disorders (MSDs) are. How to identify and reduce the risks for
MSDs at work and at home, and how to perform exercises to help
reduce the risk of MSDs.
Back Injury Prevention: You will understand the anatomy of the back
and the causes of back pain. You will be able to identify and reduce
risk factors for back injury. Learn how to perform simple exercises
for stretching and strengthening neck and back muscles to help
prevent back injury, and learn how to identify ways to change
personal habits to avoid back injury.
Your Heart Matters: You will learn how to recognize the signals of a
heart attack. Be able to identify the risk factors for coronary
heart disease, and be able to develop a plan to reduce your risk
for coronary heart disease.
Managing Stress: You will learn how to recognize the causes and
signals of stress. Be able to identify ways to manage stressful
situations, and develop personal strategies for managing stress.
Sports Safety Training: You will learn about injury preventions that
apply in many sports activities, all the emergency action steps to
take and also you will have an emergency reference guide that
will help you if any emergency does occur.
If your Company or Group has 6 or more people, we can schedule a special class.
