Common Community Disasters
Our most common disasters, in Florence and the Pee Dee are: fire, tornadoes, and hurricanes. If you experience a disaster, we can help.
The Red Cross works with you and your family, as a team, in aiding your recovery from a disaster. If you need help, go to the nearest Red Cross Service Center. If possible, please bring identification that shows where you lived at the time of the disaster. This will help us help you.
Immediate Relief. We work with emergency service agencies, and others, to provide Emergency shelter, meals, and first aid.Basic Necessities. We work with you and your family to identify disaster-caused needs, help to develop an immediate plan, and provide you and your family with the means to pay for basic necessities, which may include rent/temporary repairs, needed household items, groceries, new clothes, medical/nursing/hospital expenses related to the disaster, and job supplies (to allow you to return to work)
Other Sources of help. The Red Cross works with you to find you the help you need. We will refer you to government and other agencies that can help in your recovery. If these resources are unavailable or if you need more assistance, the Red Cross will continue to work with you and your family to meet your disaster-caused needs.
