Donations Help Can't Wait
All American Red Cross relief is offered free of charge, a gift of the American people. Our local Red Cross receives no funding from state or federal governments. The American Red Cross requires local chapters to support local services with local donations; the national organization only helps fund services for major disasters in a region, like Hurricane Hugo. United Ways of Florence, Darlington, Hartsville, Dillon and Marion United Fund provide less than one third of the Pee Dee Chapter's cost of providing Red Cross services in our region. The difference, and overwhelming majority of our funds, comes from public donations.
People like you - neighbors helping neighbors - is what it takes for the American Red Cross to make a difference in so many lives of Pee Dee area citizens.
The Pee Dee Chapter helps disaster victims, soldiers and their families, students, babies and families through our life-saving health and safety training and community education programs every day. More than 500 volunteers work 24 hours a day, seven days a week to meet the needs of residents in Florence, Darlington, Dillon and Marion Counties.
We're committed to helping our community in every way we can -- from collecting blood donations to helping local house fire victims with immediate shelter, food and clothing. Help requires money. We need your help to offer classes, prepare for disasters, and give aid when it is needed.
