The vital work of the American Red Cross is made possible
by people like you, who learn how good it can feel to lend a helping hand. Red
Cross "everyday heroes" come from all walks of life. They're all ages. Everyone
has something special to offer . . . including you.

Disaster Services
- Work in a shelter or on a mobile
feeding van to
provide hot meals to a disaster-stricken community.
- Interview individuals and families to
determine how they were affected by the disaster and how the Red Cross can
assist with meeting their needs.
- Work with Disaster Health Services to
give first aid and other health assistance to disaster victims.
- Train to respond to disasters on a
national level.
Community Education
- Educate our senior neighbors on how to
live a safe and independent life through our 'Keeping Seniors Safer'
program.
- Teach children how to prevent fires.
- Conduct community presentations to
help people prepare for disasters.
- Promote health and safety through health
fairs and presentations.
Armed Forces Emergency
Services (AFES)
- Provide emergency communication,
information, and financial assistance to active duty members of the Armed
Forces and their families.
- Perform after-hours military casework
from your own home.
International Services
- Provide community education programs in
international law and the International Red Cross movement
Health and Safety Services
- Teach others how to save a life by
instructing them in first aid, CPR, or water safety courses.
- Teach stress management health courses.
- Teach Babysitter's Training
- Present HIV/AIDS education programs.
- Assist the department through daily
activities in the office.
- Serve as a member of the Health &
Safety Services Committee.
Public Support
- Work with patients at Spartanburg Regional
Medical Center.
- Perform data entry, clerical and
administrative support in the Chapter.
- Work in the office as as a receptionist.
- Organize and work during a special event.
- Serve on a planning committee for one
of our popular special events - RetroFest, Wine
Auction, Bike Rally, Drag Races.
- Help increase chapter capacity for service
by helping with fundraising.
