The Clarksville-Montgomery County Chapter provides emergency disaster relief 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through the dedication of our Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers. Disaster calls range from single-family house fires, tornados, earthquakes, floods, transportation incidents or wildfires to name a few.
Typically, Red Cross services are designed to start the recovery process by assisting affected families with disaster-related needs such as:
Food
Shelter
Clothing
Health services (prescription medications and replacing eyeglasses lost in disaster)
Disaster mental health services
Military Messages
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by donations from the communities we serve.
Additionally we can place Disaster Welfare Inquiries (DWI) about relatives living in areas impacted by natural or man-made disasters, war or civil unrest, either in the United States or another country.
Our Safe and Well website is a 24 hrs a day service that provides a way to search for or post inquiries for family members displaced during a disaster. This site also allows anyone involved in a disaster to list themselves as "safe and well"..
Disaster Action Teams (DAT) A DAT is the first redcross personnel to respond to any incident which emergency services personnel require our assistance. These teams are activated through our local 911 systems.
The services they provide range from helping the affected families start the recovery process, to providing rehabilitation services for an incidents emergency services personnel, to opening an emergency shelter, or operating a 1st Aid / cooling station at major community events. DAT training is free and offered year round (class times can be viewed here).
The Chapter provides these teams the specialized training and the equipment necessary to complete their tasks. These Red Cross Disaster Volunteers come from all walks of life and all segments of the community. The major thing they have in common is the willingness to serve and the desire to help those in need.
Currently our chapter is looking for additional volunteers who want to join their local Disaster Action Team.
