Annual Report for 2001 - 2002 A Message from the Chapter Chairman
As you look over the numbers in this report, please keep several things in mind. First, each number represents at least one friend, neighbor, or co-worker of yours, if not yourself. Numbers are people - people who, in one way or another, have taken the time and expended the effort to better their community. That which they take away from a Red Cross class or Blood Services event is not self-serving, it is always toward the health, safety, and welfare of the community at large.
Second, none of this could come about without the combined efforts of two other select groups: the small, but remarkably efficient staff of the York-Poquoson Chapter, along with the scores of talented, energetic, and time-generous volunteers. To their ears, no words of appreciation and praise ring more eloquent than a simple, sincere thank you.
The third leg of the stool on which the accomplishments of the past year rest is composed of those individual and organizations who recognize that the chapter is dependent solely on their monetary contributions, without which nothing happens. Further, they realize that, perhaps more than with any other agency, the dollars they contribute to the York-Poquoson Chapter of the American Red Cross provide the most service to the most people in the community, every hour, every day of the year.
I speak for all the members of the Board of Directors when I say to all the people represented here - thank you. We now face another challenging year, but I am not concerned. We have the support of extraordinary people, the citizens of York County, Poquoson, and Matthews, Virginia.

Today, Red Cross volunteers hurry to assist neighbors devastated by all kinds of disasters, organize community blood drives, and provide a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of the American public. Uniquely mandated by Congress to meet hte needs of disaster victims, but without any Federal financial support, the American Red Cross is driven by its "neighbor nelping neighbor" work ethic.© Copyright 2001 York/Poquoson Chapter, American Red Cross.
